SUMAC carried out the comprehensive renovation of operational areas for American Airlines at O'Hare International Airport. The project included 4,645 m² of gate areas and 3,251 m² of operational zones, transforming a 213-meter-long concourse with vaulted clerestories that provide natural light and modernize the airline's presence.
Lighting, heating, and air systems were integrated with aerodynamic efficiency criteria. The work included architectural design, structural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing engineering, as well as coordination with airports, American Airlines, and other airlines. The work was executed in phases, keeping all gates operational, and was completed two months ahead of schedule and within budget.
