SUMAC advised the La Central Shopping Center team throughout all project stages, accompanying the design, construction, and certification process to ensure compliance with sustainability criteria. As a result, the development obtained LEED Core & Shell Platinum certification.

During the construction phase, a Waste Management Plan was implemented that allowed more than 78% of waste to be diverted from landfills. Additionally, energy efficiency strategies were incorporated such as LED luminaires, automatic controls, and photovoltaic panels on the shopping center roof, which generate more than 5% of the building's total energy and achieved 38% energy savings compared to the ASHRAE 90.1-2007 standard baseline.
