SUMAC provided sustainability and energy efficiency services, acting as advisor for the obtainment of LEED Gold construction credits for the project. Thanks to this support, the PUCP became the first building within a university campus in Peru to achieve this level of certification.
The building incorporates a natural ventilation system in classrooms, bathrooms, common areas, and circulation, eliminating the need for air conditioning. It achieved 50% water savings for irrigation and 41% in drinking water, as well as 50% recycling of construction waste. Low-VOC materials, FSC-certified wood, and materials with recycled content and regional origin were used.
