The SUMAC team led the project management and comprehensive engineering design of the Airport Mail Center. The building incorporated mail transport and sorting systems, including bulk, loose, and tray handling systems. Interfaces were also designed for transferring airmail between baggage carts and aircraft at O'Hare Airport.

Additionally, SUMAC was responsible for the design of the facility's structural, mechanical, electrical, and fire protection systems, ensuring a functional, safe, and operationally efficient infrastructure.
