SUMAC provided Sustainability and Energy Efficiency services for the iconic building of the Universidad de Ingeniería y Tecnología (UTEC), located in the Barranco district of Peru, accompanying the implementation of passive and high-performance environmental strategies.
The building, designed by Yvonne Farrell and Shelley McNamara (Pritzker Prize) and recognized as the World's Best Building by RIBA, integrates its architecture into Lima's urban landscape through innovative solutions. The design considers wind direction to achieve thermal comfort without mechanical ventilation and optimizes solar orientation and shade control, achieving 18% energy savings, 40% water savings, and a 30% reduction in embodied energy in materials. The project stands as an international benchmark in sustainable educational infrastructure and high-impact architecture.
