At SUMAC we are proud to highlight projects that not only prioritize well-being but have achieved recognition for their dedication and effort. On this occasion, we want to spotlight three proposals that have become pioneers in their respective countries in obtaining FITWEL certification: the offices Torre del Parque II and the multifamily building Nomad Living in Peru, and the building Connecta 80 in Colombia. These three projects are characterized by their focus on sustainability and the implementation of diverse strategies to enhance user well-being.

Thanks to the Sustainability Consulting services provided by SUMAC, each of these projects has demonstrated that it is possible to merge innovative architecture with sustainability, achieving exceptional results. These projects not only made a difference, but also serve as inspiration for future sustainable initiatives.

What is FITWEL?

FITWEL is the first certification focused on optimizing the design and operations of residences, offices, and commercial buildings. It is a recognition that reflects SUMAC's commitment to promoting healthy and sustainable environments in the projects it participates in. An approach that seeks to balance social, environmental, and economic aspects, demonstrating that solutions that benefit both clients and the environment can be achieved.

For several years, SUMAC has had the pleasure of certifying its clients with FITWEL, being one of the first in Latin America to obtain this qualification. Additionally, it is the first to certify projects in countries such as Ecuador. This achievement is a testament to the professionalism of the SUMAC team and the high level of quality in its Sustainability Consulting services.

What are the benefits of FITWEL Certification?

  • Accessible alternative to similar rating systems for buildings.
  • Improves the health, well-being, and productivity of occupants.
  • Increases attraction and retention of tenants and/or employees.
  • Increases the capital value of your assets.
  • Evidence-based strategies continually evolve with the latest research.
  • Provides a benchmark that can be used to measure and demonstrate care for occupants/employees.

Success Stories: Torre del Parque II

SUMAC assisted Urbanova with Sustainability Consulting services in obtaining the certification, making it the first project in Peru to achieve this milestone. Consequently, different strategies were implemented to enhance user well-being, generating healthier spaces. Beyond what is required within each office, it features an on-site lactation room for female workers. The environments have optimal air and water quality. The use of green transportation such as bicycles and public transit is also promoted. The rooftop has a garden for access to affordable natural products.

Success Stories: NOMAD LIVING - JUAN DE ARONA

From SUMAC we collaborated with Sustainability and Energy Efficiency consulting services for the Nomad Living project in Lima. A 10-story building offering a combination of residential and commercial spaces, with a total of 160 apartments. With the strategies implemented thanks to SUMAC, it became the first multifamily project in Peru to achieve the certification. Some strategies include a location that promotes accessibility and sustainable transport, the creation of outdoor spaces, the promotion of physical activity, and a healthy interior environment. Shared spaces include exercise facilities, a rooftop kitchen, and integration spaces.

Success Stories: Connecta 80 - Torre 1

Connecta 80 is a modern and sustainable project located in Bogotá, Colombia. It was the first office building in the country to obtain FITWEL certification, thanks to SUMAC's advisory. A project designed to promote the well-being and health of the people who occupy it. It has 19 floors and 3 basements, with 4 commercial floors and 15 office floors. It offers amenities such as lactation rooms, gardens, drinking water fountains, accessibility, and exterior views. It also promotes healthy eating and an active lifestyle with space for bicycle parking, showers, and lockers. It features active workstations and policies for well-being, air quality, and chemical reduction.

We are proud to be part of pioneering projects that drive the creation of healthy and sustainable spaces. We will continue to work with dedication to promote a more sustainable future in the architecture and intelligent construction industry. Contact us!
