Following the publication of Supreme Decree N°28 from Chile's Ministry of Energy, large companies must report their consumption in the first 90 days of each year. As a result, those companies identified as Energy Consumers with Management Capacity (CCGE) for having annual consumption exceeding 50 tera-calories (58 GWh) must implement an Energy Efficiency Management System within the next 12 months. "Large companies" are identified as those with annual sales above 1 million UF/year and more than 200 employees. These companies must report through the National Energy Balance.

Following the publication of the new regulation of Article 2 of the Energy Efficiency Law, companies must develop the activities indicated in the following scheme:

It is important to clarify that for the measurement of Energy Consumption, the Ministry will consider one or more companies as a single CCGE when they meet conditions such as brand identity and similarity or necessary complementarity of the processes, products, or services they produce or provide. According to a published article by the Ministry of Energy, "large consumers use 40% of all energy consumed in the country". For this reason, active management is promoted through the implementation of Energy Management Systems.
