The Santa Fe Corporate Tower, developed by OBRUM in Quito, has been officially certified with the LEED Gold seal. It now stands as a sustainability benchmark in the corporate office sector in Ecuador’s capital. This achievement was made possible through the technical support and expertise of SUMAC.
With a built area of 8,950 m², the building features 10 office floors of 580 m² each and 5 basement levels for vehicle and bicycle parking. Since its construction in 2013, it marked a turning point in Quito by offering a modern, efficient, and flexible design, along with a rooftop featuring an auditorium, dining area, and meeting rooms, as well as semi-open and double-height communal spaces.
“Today, with LEED Gold certification achieved, we demonstrate that renovating to these standards demands far more than modernizing systems. It means rethinking every component from an environmental perspective, extending the building’s useful life, reducing its ecological footprint, and elevating the quality of the built environment. In a context where organizations prioritize responsible spaces aligned with their values, this international certification reaffirms OBRUM’s commitment to leading with purpose. Because it’s not just about building — it’s about leaving a legacy,” states Dayana Herrera, Chief Operating Officer (COO) of OBRUM.
Through close collaboration between the client, design team, and SUMAC experts, the project implemented high-impact environmental strategies:
“Supporting projects like Santa Fe Corporate Tower allows us to show how sustainability and operational efficiency can be integrated from design through operations. These developments are fundamental to building more resilient, responsible cities,” says Anabela Remondino, Project Manager and Sustainability Supervisor at SUMAC.
Beyond meeting LEED standards, Santa Fe Corporate Tower aligns with Quito’s local ordinances, reinforcing its commitment to responsible, efficient, and resilient development. The certification reflects the building’s construction quality, OBRUM’s innovative vision, and SUMAC’s technical expertise — whose leadership has been key in the sustainable transformation of projects across the region.
