SUMAC assisted Urbanova with Sustainability Consulting services in obtaining FITWEL certification for its Torre del Parque II project. Thus, it became the first project in Peru to achieve this milestone. Consequently, different strategies were implemented to enhance user well-being and generate healthier spaces.
FITWEL is the first certification focused on optimizing the design and operations of residences, offices, and commercial buildings. Moreover, this certification focuses on people's health and well-being. Torre del Parque II is a 33,254 square meter building, located in the center of the San Isidro business district. The certified spaces include workspaces and common areas used by reception, administration, and maintenance personnel of Urbanova.
From the conception of this project, attributes aligned with sustainability were taken into account. As added value, Urbanova focused on the users' experience to contribute to community well-being. Therefore, they pursued FITWEL certification with the support of SUMAC's specialized professional team.
The user experience is enhanced to promote comfort in the building, promoting productivity and well-being. Beyond what is required within each office, it features an on-site lactation room for female workers.
The environments have optimal air and water quality. To promote good habits, there are free water dispensers at various points throughout the building. The use of green transportation such as bicycles and public transit is also promoted. The rooftop has a garden for access to affordable natural products.
In 2017, the SUMAC professional team collaborated with the application of different strategies to save on various consumptions to achieve LEED Gold certification. Energy savings of 22%, 53% water savings, and a 55% recycling level in materials during construction were achieved.
