FITWEL is the first certification focused on optimizing the design and operations of residences, offices, and commercial buildings. Moreover, this certification focuses on the health and well-being of people.
SUMAC provided Sustainability Consulting services for Urbanova to obtain FITWEL certification for its Torre del Parque II project, becoming the first project in Peru to obtain such certification. Being the first such project, different strategies were implemented to verify the occupants’ enhanced well-being and healthier spaces.
About the building
Torre del Parque II is a 357,943 square foot building in San Isidro’s downtown business district in Lima.
From the conception of this project, attributes aligned with sustainability were considered. Urbanova, on this occasion, focused on the users’ experience to contribute to the community’s well-being. That is why they decided to achieve FITWELL certification with the support of SUMAC’s professional team.
Benefits of Torre del Parque II
The project’s main benefit is the improvement of user experience to promote comfort in the building, promoting productivity and well-being.
The environment has optimal air and water quality. Water dispensers are located throughout the building to enhance good habits. In addition, the use of green transportation, such as bicycles and public transportation, is encouraged. The rooftop has a garden for the production of affordable natural products.
Background
In 2017, SUMAC’s team collaborated with Urbanova implementing different strategies to achieve LEED Gold certification It enabled the following levels of savings: 22% in energy, 53% in water, and a 55% recycling level in materials during construction.
